The growing participation of women in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) was evident during the Cordillera State Institute of Technical Education (CSITE) Ifugao Campus Completion Ceremony on June 25, 2026, as women graduates completed qualifications in programs traditionally dominated by men.
Of the 216 graduates, 95 were women who completed qualifications in Masonry NC I and NC II, Electrical Installation and Maintenance (EIM) NC II, Driving NC II, Tile Setting NC II, and Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) NC II. Notably, women comprised 18 of the 19 Masonry NC I graduates and 14 of the 25 Masonry NC II graduates, reflecting their increasing participation in the construction sector and reaffirming that competence in skilled trades knows no gender.
CSITE Executive Director Daisy C. Bungallon commended the graduates for their perseverance and encouraged them to continuously enhance their competencies as they pursue employment, entrepreneurship, and lifelong learning. She emphasized that technical education equips individuals with the skills needed to improve their lives and contribute to community development.
The achievements of the women graduates reflect CSITE’s commitment to Gender and Development (GAD) by expanding access to quality technical education and encouraging women to pursue both traditional and nontraditional careers. Their success also contributes to Sustainable Development Goal 5 on Gender Equality by promoting equal opportunities and empowering more women to participate in the skilled workforce.
