Twenty-four Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) and five personnel from the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) completed the 38-day Carpentry NC II training at the Mountain Province District Jail (MPDJ) on June 16, 2026, equipping participants with technical skills to support rehabilitation and future employment.
The training was implemented through the partnership of the BJMP Mountain Province District Jail and the TESDA-Cordillera State Institute of Technical Education Mountain Province campus (TESDA-CSITE MP).
MPDJ Acting Jail Warden CINSP John S. Melecio commended the graduates for completing the program and encouraged them to use their newly acquired competencies to rebuild their lives after release. He also showcased the trainees’ woodworking outputs and shared that they applied introductory tile setting skills to construct a fully functional Female Dorm Kitchen inside the facility.
In a message delivered by Campus Registrar Noralin K. Salupen, CSITE MP Administrator Proserphina P. Pacyado encouraged the graduates to use the skills they acquired through the training to prepare for future employment and livelihood opportunities.
A representative of the PDL trainees expressed gratitude to BJMP and TESDA-CSITE for providing the training, saying the skills they acquired would help them pursue livelihood opportunities after completing the program.
The completion of the training marks another step in the rehabilitation efforts of BJMP and TESDA-CSITE, equipping participants with industry-relevant skills that can support productive reintegration and sustainable livelihood opportunities.
