The Cordillera State Institute of Technical Education (CSITE) Advisory Council advanced measures to strengthen student safeguards and align training programs with emerging community and industry needs during its 3rd Quarter Meeting on September 10, 2026, held at Baguio Country Club.
Chaired by Mr. Anthony De Leon, the Council discussed the proposed CSITE Student Handbook and Policy on Student Safety and Security, covering student welfare, campus security, mental health and inclusivity, employee-student boundaries, and special admission cases.
The safety policy was approved in principle, subject to amendments and legal review, with final action targeted by the end of September.
The Council also addressed declining traditional industries in Baguio City, with Baguio Tourism Council Chairperson Gladys Vergara highlighting the need to preserve skills while creating opportunities for the next generation. Woodcraft and silver crafting were identified as priority areas, with leather footwear crafting also considered.
CSITE Executive Director Daisy Bungallon joined the policy and institutional discussions, while Council members emphasized stronger collaboration with TESDA, DTI, DOST, industry associations, and private partners for specialized training, entrepreneurship, employment support, and training logistics.
The meeting underscored CSITE’s commitment to protecting learners while developing skills that respond to Baguio’s evolving workforce and industry needs.
