TABUK CITY— The Cordillera State Institute of Technical Education (CSITE), together with top officials of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), led the inauguration and turnover of a newly constructed open gym on April 14, 2026, at the TESDA Kalinga Provincial Office.
The facility, a shared resource of TESDA Provincial Office Kalinga and the CSITE Kalinga Campus, was constructed through the initiative of Congresswoman Caroline B. Agyao.
The ceremony was led and witnessed by TESDA Deputy Director General for TESD Operations Vidal Villanueva, TESDA-CAR Acting Regional Director Glenn Murphy, and Regional Operations Management Office Executive Director David Bungallon, alongside provincial directors, MANCOM members, local government officials, private technical-vocational institutions, PTESDCs, CTECs, and learners.
The new open gym is expected to enhance the learning environment by supporting holistic development and expanding access to quality training infrastructure, reflecting strong collaboration among national and local stakeholders.
Following the inauguration, CSITE convened its 4th Management Committee (MANCOM) Meeting at the Golden Berries Hotel and Convention Center, presided over by Executive Director Daisy C. Bungallon.
The presence of senior TESDA officials underscored strong institutional support for CSITE’s ongoing transformation. In his message, Deputy Director General Villanueva challenged the leadership to accelerate efforts toward positioning CSITE as a full-fledged polytechnic institute, emphasizing the need to strengthen absorptive capacity and expand strategic partnerships.
Executive Director David Bungallon highlighted the importance of advancing legislative support for the institution’s transition, including identifying potential sponsors for the proposed measure. He also announced the planned integration of PTC Benguet and PTC Apayao into the CSITE system, subject to TESDA Board consideration.
Acting Regional Director Murphy, meanwhile, called for a more proactive and unified approach in positioning CSITE as a model for the integration of Technical Training Institutions (TTIs) across the Cordillera region.
The back-to-back activities reflect CSITE’s strengthened leadership cohesion, clear strategic direction, and sustained commitment to institutional growth through partnerships and infrastructure development.
