BANAUE, IFUGAO | TESDA-CSITE WorldSkills mentor Joshua Lizardo led hands-on culinary training for 43 members of the Batad community, including homestay and inn owners and staff, during the Community-Based Tourism Kulinarya Workshop held on September 22-23, 2026.
Lizardo served as the resource person, facilitating sessions on food preparation and presentation, food safety and handling, local food culture and heritage, and food business budgeting, alongside cooking demonstrations and practical food-service activities.
The two-day workshop was organized by the Department of Tourism-Cordillera Administrative Region (DOT-CAR) to strengthen the culinary and food-service skills of community tourism stakeholders and promote local dishes as part of Batad’s tourism experience, in coordination with TESDA-Ifugao and TESDA-CSITE.
Lizardo is a culinary expert and WorldSkills mentor to Jester A. Ibarra, WorldSkills Philippines Gold Medalist in Cookery.
The training equipped Batad’s tourism stakeholders with practical culinary and food-service skills they can apply in serving visitors while supporting the use and promotion of local dishes and culinary traditions in the community’s tourism experience.
